Applications

Discover the Versatility of Finolex

Waste Discharge

The Finolex SWR pipe fittings ensure efficient discharge and eco-friendly disposal of waste from various sectors, such as residential, commercial, hospitality, and healthcare.

Venting

Our SWR pipes are also used in venting systems to maintain optimal pressure and prevent gases or unpleasant odours from contaminating indoor air.

Industrial Drainage

These SWR pipes are used for chemical compatibility in non-pressure, industrial drainage applications to provide a safe and efficient means of disposal.

Rainwater Transportation

Our SWR pipes can also be used to transport and harvest rainwater for both residential and commercial buildings, providing an eco-friendly alternative to traditional methods.

Installation of
Step 1: Measuring
Measure and mark the required length of the pipe.
Step 2: Cutting
Cut the pipe in a square shape. Avoid angled cuts to prevent leakage.
Step 3: Deburring and Chamfering
Remove any burrs with a knife or deburring tool. Make a 10° - 15° chamfer at the end of the pipe.
Step 4: Cleaning
Wipe off dirt, grease, and moisture from the pipe with a clean, dry cloth.
Step 5: Check Dry Fit
Gently insert the pipe about one-third to half of the way into the fitting socket. Avoid using pipes or fittings that are too tight or too loose.
Step 6: Solvent Cement Application
Apply an even layer of cement to the outer side of the pipe and a medium layer to the inside of the fitting.
Step 7: Assembly
Connect the pipe and fitting until they are in full contact with the socket bottom. Hold them together until the pipe does not retract. Remove excess cement from the exterior surface. A properly made joint will show a continuous bead of cement around the pipe and fitting.
Measuring
Measure and mark the required pipe length accurately.
Cutting
Cut the pipe squarely. Use a rubber ring at the fitting base to ensure a tight seal and prevent leakage.
Deburring and Chamfering
Remove burrs inside and outside the pipe using a knife, file, or deburring tool. Create a 10° - 15° chamfer at the pipe end.
Cleaning
Wipe off surface dirt, grease, or moisture with a clean, dry cloth.
Check Dry Fit
Gently insert the pipe one-third to half-way into the socket. Avoid using pipes or fittings that are too tight or loose.
Solvent Cement Application
Apply a lubricant to the rubber ring before insertion.
Assembly
Push the pipe into the integrated ring socket end securely.

Frequently Asked Questions

Learn More About Finolex

SWR stands for Soil, Waste and Rainwater Pipes for building drainage systems.

The SWR system is used for applications such as building (soil & waste) drainage discharge, rainwater discharge, and venting foul gases and odour.

It is a complete assembly of SWR pipe fittings that are joined with solvent cement or rubber rings.

Finolex SWR pipes are considered to be the best because they are manufactured by using Finolex’s own PVC resin. Finolex SWR pipes are UV stabilised and are manufactured using state-of-the-art technology and automation.

SWR Selfit/IRR (integrated rubber ring) pipes conform to IS:13592. Fittings are manufactured as per IS 14735.

SWR comes in 2 types. One is selfit pipes with solvent cement jointing and another is Integrated rubber rings (IRR) with jointing done by using lubricant for easy insertion

Yes. SWR comes in 2 types in both variants (Selfit & IRR). Type A is for use in ventilation pipework and rainwater applications and SWR Type B is for use in soil waste and rainwater discharge systems (Higher wall thickness than Type A)

Finolex SWR Pipes are UV stabilised during the manufacturing process itself, making them safe and durable when exposed to sunlight.

Agri Pipes are recommended for underground pressurised applications and hence are not UV stabilised. SWR Pipes are generally exposed to sunlight and are UV-stabilised for a longer life.

For high-rise/ multi-story buildings where the piping system is exposed to sunlight, technically only SWR IRR pipes should be used, as the integrated ring ensures leak-proof joints that can sustain thermal contraction and expansion and it is easy for maintenance and repair works whenever required.

Only water-based paint should be used in such cases.

Yes, Finolex SWR IRR Pipes have pre-fitted rings for faster installations and are of the push-fit type and thus are user and plumber-friendly, especially while the plumber is working at a height.

SWR type B has a higher wall thickness (than type A), so it is recommended in soil and wastewater discharge systems.

Finolex SWR pipes and fittings do not support fire and provide good resistance to combustion.

Finolex SWR is non-reactive to acids, alkalis, effluents, salt and minerals, thus it can be safely used.

The SWR system can be used for non-pressure plumbing applications, such as transportation of soil, waste and rainwater, non-pressure industrial drainage applications, and waste discharge systems in residential and commercial complexes, resorts, and hospitals.

Yes, SWR Selfit pipes are an ideal solution for the efficient removal of waste in the drainage system and can be used for non-pressure plumbing applications in residential buildings.

Yes, SWR Selfit pipes are an ideal solution for the efficient removal of waste in the drainage system and can be used for non-pressure plumbing applications in residential buildings.

No, fittings with integrated rubber rings (IRR) do not require solvent cement for jointing, the jointing is done using lubricant for easy insertion.

Thermal Expansion

Here are some key considerations for SWR pipe installation: thermal expansion, suitable fittings, and proper support.

Pipe Clip Support Spacing Distance

Pipe Size (mm) 75 90 110 160
Spacing For Horizontal Pipe Size (mtrs) 1.0 1.0 1.0 1.2
Spacing For Vertical Pipe Size (mtrs) 1.8 1.8 1.8 1.8
